Meet Ashley

I’m a freelance book editor out of Woodstock, Georgia. I have been working in the editing and publishing industry for over ten years, both at All Stories Editing, and with an independent publisher out of Athens, Deeds Publishing. I also work for the University of Georgia in written content creation and strategy.

In my time freelancing, I edited over 300 books, both fiction and nonfiction, offering a variety of services, from proofreading to copyediting, developmental editing, print & ebook layout, cover design and more. I supervised a team of twelve contract editors as well, allowing us to serve even more authors.

With Deeds Publishing, I continued my editing and design work for both traditionally published and self-publishing/vanity press authors. Books that I worked on went on to be Amazon Bestsellers in their categories and win awards, such as the Royal Palm Literary Award and the Hal Bernard Memorial Award, along with rave reviews from Kirkus and readers alike.

I am a native English speaker and have experience working in US, UK, and AU English. Though I have experience editing according to many style guides, I primarily work with the Chicago Manual of Style and The Elements of Style for US works, and the New Oxford Style Manual/Hart's Rules for UK works.

Depending on the complexity of the edit and the revision required, I generally charge between $0.012 and $0.020 per word, but am also happy to work at a rate of $25-$40 per hour.

When not editing, I work in marketing, design websites, play video games, and explore Metro Atlanta, Georgia, with my husband and dog.
